Barkly House
Barkly House
Light, space for a much-loved, oversized dining table and a warm and inviting materials palette were on the wish list when we were commissioned to give our clients’ two storey Victorian terrace a facelift.
A new single storey rear addition is drenched in natural light thanks to the inclusion of a one metre light well in the new kitchen and dining space.
Our clients are keen cooks and their desire for their new kitchen to be the main gathering space for family and friends was met with a tiled bench coming into play as another area to socialise and interact while gathered around the island.
Rich American oak joinery in the kitchen extending into the new rear sitting room blurs the threshold between the two spaces and emphasises the idea of the kitchen as an everyday living space.
We’re also rather proud of the meticulously-detailed powder room with terrazzo tiles, reeded glass, matt porcelain and more American oak timber creating a tranquil space.
