Salmon House
Salmon House
Navigating Salmon House is not unlike salmon swimming upstream; ascending from level to level, guided by instinct and senses. It is a sensory experience, traversing diverse spaces, materials, and moments that evoke both activity and tranquillity. The journey includes time with family and friends, with gentle pauses for reflection ultimately leading to moments of solitude.
The design was largely driven by its location and immediate site conditions. Sited on a prominent corner at the top of Northcote’s Ruckers Hill, the three-level residence embraces its highly visible position, the house emerging as a powerful composition of brickwork, glass, concrete, stucco and timber.
Carefully crafted living spaces encourage family and friends to interact for extended periods of time, whilst pockets of privacy and relief – such as the library - offer quiet retreats within the same roof. The swimming pool and pool house provide yet another enticing destination, this feature providing yet another compelling reason for the kids never to leave the home!
